Chiral 2-(l-p-tolylsulfinyl)alkylpyridines and the corresponding sulfide-pyridines were prepared and assessed in the enantioselective palladium catalyzed allylic substitution of 1,3diphenylprop-2-enyl acetate with dimethylmalonate and addition of diethylzinc to benzaldehyde.
