✦ Synopsis
Quantum Chromodynamics on a lattice with Wilson fermions and a chirally twisted mass term for two degenerate quark flavours is considered in the framework of chiral perturbation theory. The pion masses and decay constants are calculated in next-to-leading order including terms linear in the lattice spacing a. We treat both unquenched and partially quenched QCD. We also discuss the phase structure of twisted mass lattice QCD.

The O(a') contributions to the chiral effective Lagrangian for lattice QCD with Wilson fermions are constructed. The results a.re generalized to partially quenched QCD with Wilson fermions as well as to the "mixed" lattice theory with Wilson sea quarks a.nd Ginsparg-Wilson valence quarks.
We present a determination of the shift M,(L) -M, due to the finite spatial box size L by means of Nf = 2 Chiral Perturbation Theory and Liischer's formula. The range of applicability of the chiral prediction is discussed.
