β¦ Synopsis
The potential of various chiral dirhodium complexes to discriminate racemic methyl phenyl sulfoxide is demonstrated by 1 H and 13 C NMR spectroscopy. Complexation occurs via a HOMO-LUMO interaction. Extraordinarily large signal dispersions ο± are observed with Rh 2 mandelate 4 . This can be rationalized by a conformational fixation of the sulfoxide by intramolecular hydrogen bonding.
