Compllatlon of Petroleum Refining Catalysts
The biennial OGJ compilation of petroleum refining catalysts (A.K. Rhodes, Oil & Gas J. 89(41) (14 October 1991) 43,46,48) lists 1940 catalysts. The processes covered are catalytic naphtha reforming, dimerization, isomerization (Cs), isomerization (CS and c6), isomerization (xylenes), FCC, hydrocracking, mild hydrocracking, hydrotreating/hydrogenation/saturation, hydrorefining, polymerization, sulfur (elemental) recovery, steamhydrocarbon reforming, sweetening, Claus unit tail gas treatment, other refining, oxygenate catalysts, FCC combustion promoters, and FCC sulfur oxides reduction catalysts. The catalysts are listed under the headings: catalyst designation, primary differentiating characteristics, application (feedstock and product), form, bulk density compacted (pounds/cu.ft or g per ml), carrier or support, active agents, commercial availability (unrestricted or under license). Reasons for the change in numbers of catalysts in each category since the last compilation in 1989 are discussed.
