China: Luoyang -nanoparticulate CaCO 3 Three companies are involved in a joint venture, investing Rmb 220 M to build several facilities at Yiyang in the Luoyang district of Henan province. The companies are: Zhejiang Yuhuan Zhongzhi Copper Co Ltd, the Luoyang Mining Group and Luoyang Construction & Investment Co. The facilities comprise: a 50,000 tonnes/y nanoparticulate calcium carbonate (NCC) plant; a 600,000 tonnes/y calcium oxide plant; a 100,000 tonnes/y magnesium oxide plant; and a 30,000 tonnes/y liquid carbon dioxide unit. The principal feedstock will be high-grade limestone, mined locally. The NCC plant should be commissioned towards the end of 2009, with the other facilities following soon after. India: Continental -carbon black
Continental Carbon has expanded the scale of its carbon black project at Vizakhapatnam (Andhra Pradesh province). As previously reported in 'Focus on Pigments', Aug 2008, 7, the company is aiming to establish a 300,000 tonnes/y plant here by 2013. Beyond that date, it will add a further 150,000 tonnes/y, bringing total carbon black capacity here to 450,000 tonnes/y. Continental Carbon is owned by China Synthetic Rubber and Taiwan Cement.
