✦ Synopsis
The San Francisco Chronicle calls this book a thriller. I call it historical fiction. It tells the story of Chernobyl (primarily from the viewpoint of fictional characters who worked in the plant) from before the terrible misguided experiment gone wrong until after, when the people of Russia - and all of Europe, for that matter - were dealing with the consequences.
The level of science encompassed by Pohl is wonderfully complete and correct, and helps to provide insights into the horrible tragedy now unfolding in Japan.
