✦ Synopsis

A method for the synthesis of 4-oxo and homologous esters is achieved by metalation of alkoxycarbonylalkyl-N-imidazolium-N-methyl amides with I equiv of LDA followed by highly ehemoseleetive addition of 1 equiv ofa Grignard reagent.
