find that osmium tetroxide, OsO4, is converted into a salt by an aqueous solution of sodium hydroxide, in which the concentration of that salt ranges between 0.0277 and 0.0587 normal. This salt is a derivative of perperosmic acid, H~OsOs. Previous investigators have expressed a difference of opinion as to the acidforming properties of this oxide.
