✦ Synopsis

Yb(OTf ) 3 Catalyzed Allylation of the Hydrates of α-Keto Aldehydes and Glyoxylates with Allylsilane. -Yb(OTf) 3 is a novel mild catalyst for the allylation with allylsilanes, e.g. (II) and (VII), which is tolerant to substrates with active protons. In the case of (VII) the chiral group on silicon participates in the stereocontrol of the allylation reaction. This is different from the TiCl 4 , AlCl 3 or BF 3 promoted allylation of compound (V) with (VII).
