Vinyltriphenylphosphonium Salt Mediated One-Pot Synthesis of Functionalized 3-(Triphenylphosphoranylidene)butyrolactones.

-Dialkylacetylenedicarboxylates react with triphenylphosphine and 3chloropentane-2,4-dione in its enol form (II) to produce the hitherto unknown tetrahydrofuranones (IV), which can be considered as useful synthetic intermediates.
