Unique Solvent-Dependent Atropisomerism of a Novel Cytotoxic Naphthoxanthene Antibiotic FD-594.
-The absolute configuration of title compound (I) is determined by X-ray analysis. Its conformation is studied by CD and NMR spectroscopy. The solvent-dependent atropisomerism, observed for the first time for a natural product, is discussed on the basis of molecular mechanics calculations.
