Unexpected Hydrogenation of C-C-Double Bonds with tert-Butyl Iodide.

-Further experiments to the title hydrogenation reaction leading to (II) and (III) are presented. It is noteworthy that the stereoselectivity in this reaction to (II) and (III) is opposite to the known catalytic ones. The phenomenon of racemization observed in the reactions of starting compounds (I) and (IV) is explained by the high reaction temperature.
