Trifluoromethanesulfonic Anhydride Induced Cleavage of a Bis(iminomethane) Compound: A New Access to a 1,3-Diaryl-2azaallenium Triflate and a N-((Trifluoromethyl)sulfonyl)methanimine. Synthesis, Structures and Quantum Chemical Calculations.

-The first preparation of a 2-azapropenylium trifluoromethanesulfonate (III) is described by the title cleavage reaction. By-product is the methaneimine (IV). Both compounds are moisture sensitive and are characterized by X-ray analysis and IR and NMR data.
