-The reaction fails if the R 2 -substituent is an electron-withdrawing group. It is noteworthy that in the presence of 4-methyl-or 4-bromobenzaldehyde oxime no related dihydrofuran is observed and the results are similar to those obtained for benzaldehyde oxime. -(IESCE, M.
