β¦ Synopsis
Transformations of the Imidazole Ring in 1-Alkyl-and 1-Aryl-4nitroimidazoles Following the Attack of Hydroxylamine or 4-Amino-1,2,4-triazole.
-Novel imidazole-oxadiazole ring interconversions accompanying the nucleophilic amination of 2-methyl-4-nitroimidazoles (I) by 4aminotriazole (II) or hydroxylamine are described. Imidazole-oxadiazole transformations fail to appear by reacting 4-nitroimidazoles lacking the 2-methyl substituent (cf. (VI)). Mechanistic suggestions are discussed. -(SUWINSKI,
