β¦ Synopsis
Ti2Ni2In, Zr2Co2In, and Zr2Pd2In -Intermetallic Compounds with Ordered U3Si2 and Zr3Al2 Type Structure.
-The structures of the title compounds, prepared by arc melting of mixtures of the elements in Ar atmosphere and annealing at 1070 K, are determined by powder and single crystal XRD. Ti2Ni2In and Zr2Pd2In adopt the tetragonal space group P42/mmm with Z = 4 of the ordered Zr3Al2 structure type, a superstructure of U3Si2. The structure is built-up from puckered Ni2In and Pd2In layers, resp., with weak Ni-Ni and Pd-Pd contacts. Zr2Co2In crystallizes in the space group P4/mbm with Z = 2 of the ordered U3Si2 type. The structure consists of (Co2In) layers with CO2 dumbbells separated by Zr atoms. The compounds show Pauli paramagnetic behavior.
