Thermolysis of the oxy-PAH benzo[c]phenanthrene-5,6-dicarboxylic anhydride (3) and 6H-benzo[cdlpyren-6-one (4) gave the abundant CI8H10 CP-PAH combustion effluents benzo[ghi]fluoranthene (1) and cyclopenta[cd]pyrene (2).
