✦ Synopsis

Thermodynamic Analysis of the Cubic-Tetragonal Phase Equilibria in the System ZrO 2 -YO 1.5 .

-Assuming that the cubic-to-tetragonal (c-t) transformation in ZrO 2 alloys to be a second-order type, the title equilibria are thermodynamically analyzed using Landau's phenomenological theory. This model allows a better description of the observed c-t twophase field and of the spinodal region and can be used to discuss the nature of the c-t diffusionless transformation from the order parameter introduced in this model. During the c-t transformation displacement of cations and anions is suggested not to occur simultaneously. -(KATAMURA,
