Thermal Stability of Hexaaluminate Film Coated on SiC Substrate for High-Temperature Catalytic Application.
-α-SiC-supported porous hexaaluminate films of high thermal stability for application in hightemp. catalytic combustion systems are prepared by coating the substrate with a slurry containing 6 wt.% calcined Ba0.75Al11.0O17.25 powder and subsequent heating at 1200 . degree.C. Due to reaction with the substrate a layer consisting of BaAl2Si12O8 and α-Al2O3 is formed at the interface. This layer serves as adhesion promoter for the hexaaluminate film, the microstructure of which remains unchanged even after heating at 1300 . degree.C in air. - (INOUE,
