Thermal Rearrangement of Pyridylnitramines.

-In contrast to their N-methyl analogues, which rearrange to form the corresponding methylamino-nitroamines in 74-90% yield, 2-substituted pyridine (I) rearranges into two regioisomers (II) and (III), 4-substituted pyridine (IV) is much less prone to rearrangement and the 3-substituted analogue cannot be rearranged.
