β¦ Synopsis
The Study of the Crystalline Phosphates of Kosnarite Type Structure Containing Different Alkali Metals. -The incorporation of different alkali metals into crystalline phosphates Hf2(PO4)3 (M 1 , M 2 : Li, Na, K, Rb, Cs) by solid state reactions at 900-1100 Β°C is studied and the formation regions of kosnarite solid solutions are determined. The crystal structure of Na0.5K0.5Hf2(PO4)3 is characterized by powder XRD. The compound crystallizes in the space group R3c with Z = 6. Kosnarite-like frameworks of Zr and Hf containing phosphates may incorporate wide variations of cations in their cavities to form series of continuous solid solutions. Understanding the basic chemistry and crystal chemistry of the kosnarite compounds of variable compositions is a key factor to choose phosphate matrix compositions suitable for solidification of reprocessed wastes of spent U-Pu nuclear fuels. -(ASABINA, E.
