✦ Synopsis
The title compounds can be prepared either by reacting Fe 3 MoO 4 and Co 3 MoO 4 in a NH 3 stream at 750-900 • C or by plasma nitridation of the oxide precursors (N 2 /H 2 plasma generated with a 1.2 kW microwave source). Fe 3 Mo 3 N and Co 3 Mo 3 N are found to be isostructural with η-Fe 3 W 3 C, which crystallizes in the cubic space group Fd3m with Z = 16.
