✦ Synopsis
3+ . -The phosphors Ca6Gd2-xTbxNa2(PO4)6F2 show strong absorption in the vacuum UV (VUV) range and have intense emission upon 172 nm excitation, while Ca6La2-xTbxNa2(PO4)6F2 phosphors exhibit weaker absorption in the VUV range. The emission color of both phosphors can be tuned from blue to yellow-green by changing the Tb 3+ -doping concentration. Visible quantum cutting through cross relaxation between Tb 3+ ions occurs with and without Gd 3+ , but Gd 3+ -containing phosphors have a higher quantum cutting efficiency, confirming that Gd 3+ ions play an important intermediate role in energy transfer to convert VUV light to visible light and reinforce the cross relaxation efficiency during the quantum cutting process.
