✦ Synopsis
The Pauson-Khand Reaction Catalyzed by the Methylidynetricobalt Nonacarbonyl Cluster. -The utility of alkylidynetricobalt nonacarbonyl clusters as catalysts in the Pauson-Khand cycloaddition is studied. It is shown that methylidynetricobalt cluster (Ia) is more efficient than dicobalt octacarbonyl as well as C-substituted analogues (Ib) -(Id). Using this catalyst, several fused alicyclic (VI), (X), (XIII) as well as heterocyclic cyclopentenone derivatives (VIII) are prepared in good to excellent yields. The trisubstituted alkene (Ve), however, remains unchanged under the reaction conditions. -(SUGIHARA, T.;
