✦ Synopsis

The Effect of Lithiation on the Electrochromism of Sol-Gel Derived Niobium Oxide Films.

-Crystalline Nb2O5 films, prepared by a sol-gel route by addition of glacial acetic acid to a solution of NbCl5 in PrOH and heating of the resulting xerogel films at 500 β€’ C, exhibit transmittance changes between the colored and bleached states of 60% in the UV and of 80% in the VIS and near IR regions. Lithiation of the films by addition of LiCF3SO3 to the sol increases the electrochemical reversibility and, in particular, the reversibility of bleaching of thick (ΒΏ 250 nm) amorphous and crystalline films. -(MACEK,
