β¦ Synopsis
Ternary Chlorides in the Systems MCl/HoCl3 (M: Cs, Rb, K). -DTA and powder XRD studies of the title systems confirm the existence of M3HoCl6, Cs2HoCl5, Cs3Ho2Cl9, and MHo2Cl7 (M: Cs, Cl, K) and of the compounds Rb2HoCl5 (Cs2DyCl5-type) and K2HoCl5 (K2PrCl5-type). The thermodynamic functions for the formation of the ternary chlorides from MCl and HoCl and from the compounds adjacent in the phase diagrams are derived from the enthalpies of solution and the e.m.f. vs. T measurements in galvanic chlorine cells for solid electrolytes. From aqueous solutions Cs4HoCl7 (R3c, Z = 3) and Cs3HoCl6 (Pbcm, Z = 8) are obtained. -(ROFFE, M.; SEIFERT,
