β¦ Synopsis
Synthetic Routes to Ga(CN)3 and MGa(CN)4 (M: Li, Cu) Framework Structures.
-Pure crystalline Ga(CN)3 (III) is prepared in almost quantitative yield by reaction of (I) with either (II) or GaCl3. Structure determination by powder XRD and Rietveld refinement shows that (III) adopts a primitive cubic unit cell, space group Pm3m, with orientationally disordered CN groups in a Prussian-blue-like framework structure in which Ga is octahedrally surrounded by an average three C and three N atoms. Compound (Va) (cubic, P43m) is built up from LiN4 and GaC4 tetrahedra linked by C-N bonds to form two interpenetrating networks of the Zn(CN)2 structure type. (VIb) has a similar cubic structure for which Cu, Ga and/or C,N disorder cannot be ruled out. In addition a new convenient route to compounds (VII) is described. -
