โฆ Synopsis
Synthesis, Structure, and Vibrational Spectra of Al3BC3, an Aluminum Carbide Carboborate with the Linear Anion (C=B=C)5-.
-Light-yellow transparent crystals of Al3BC3 are obtained by reaction of the elements at 1500 โข C. The structure (trigonal, P3c1, Z = 6) consists of Al5C bipyramids which are linked by common corners of the basis plane, thus forming layers of Al3C. These layers are connected by isolated linear CBC groups exhibiting a B-C distance of 1. 44 ร . The interpretation of the CBC group as an anion (C=B=C)5-, suggested from the structural relationship to Al4C3 and Al5C3N, is confirmed by the vibrational spectra. The compound, thus represents the first carbide carboborate of aluminum. -(HILLEBRECHT, H.;
