Synthesis, Structure, and Physical Properties of A-Site Ordered Perovskites ACu3Co4O12 (A: Ca and Y). -CaCu3Co4O12, YCu3Co4O12, and their solid solutions Ca1-xYxCu3Co4O12 (x= 0.25, 0.50, 0.75) are synthesized from stoichiometric mixtures of Y2O3, CuO, Co3O4, and Ca2CuO3 in the presence of KClO4 (gold capsule, 9 GPa, 1273 K, 30 min). The products are characterized by powder XRD and electrical and magnetic measurements. All the compounds crystallize with the CaCu 3 Ti 4 O 12 -type structure in the cubic space group Im3. Substitution of Y for Ca at the A-site changes the metallic CaCu3Co4O12 to insulating YCu3Co4O12; the metal-to-insulator transition occurs at x = 0.
