✦ Synopsis

Synthesis, Structure and Characterizations of a Novel 3D Coordination Polymer Constructed from Rare Castellated Inorganic Chains. -The new coordination polymer {[Cd8Cl4(trz)12(H2O)]β€’2H2O}n (trz: 1,2,4-triazole) is synthesized from CdCl2, trz, malonic acid, and NaOH under hydrothermal conditions (autoclave, 160 Β°C, 5 d, 51% yield). It crystallizes in the monoclinic space group C2/c with Z = 4 (single crystal XRD). The structure contains new heptanuclear [Cd 7 Cl 4 ] clusters which are connected by bridging water molecules to generate one-dimensional castellated inorganic chains. The chains are joined to Cd centers via six different ΞΌ3-trz ligands to form a three--dimensional organic-inorganic hybrid framework. -(ZHAI*, Q.
