Synthesis of trans-4,4'-Diiodostilbene and Other Symmetrical trans-Stilbenes by Heck Reaction of Arenediazonium Salts with Vinyltriethoxysilane.

-A versatile, operationally simple, facile, new synthesis of symmetrical trans-stilbenes such as (III) by the title reaction is presented. It is noteworthy that no 1,1-diarylethylene isomer is observed. -
