β¦ Synopsis
Synthesis of the Zn7Sb2O12 by Direct Oxidation of a Precursory Alloy ( DOPA). -The title oxide, which represents a constituent phase of ZnO-based semiconducting ceramics, is prepared by the title method. The mechanism of oxidation of the precursor alloy powder by atmospheric oxygen is studied as a function of temperature using TGA and powder XRD methods. The oxidation proceeds in three steps with formation of ZnO in the temperature range 325-685 β’ C, ZnSb2O4 at 685-765 . degree.C, and a grey oxide mixture at 765-780 β’ C. Heating of the latter at 1200 β’ C yields the orthorhombic Ξ²-Zn7Sb2O12 phase as white powder which upon heating at 1300 β’ C is transformed into the spinel-type Ξ±-Zn7Sb2O12 phase. -(ACHARD,
