Synthesis of Several New 5-Nitro-1,4-benzothiazine and 6-Nitro-1,5benzothiazepine Derivatives.

-Starting from o-nitro-p-methoxyaniline (I), a number of new 2-substituted 5-nitro-1,4-benzothiazines (VII) and 6nitro-1,5-benzothiazepine (X) are prepared via Herz reaction and successive cyclocondensation with appropriate halo acids in good to excellent yields.
