Synthesis of Quinones from Hydroquinone Dimethyl Ethers. Oxidative Demethylation with Cobalt(III) Fluoride.

-Treatment of hydroquinone dimethyl ethers with CoF 3 could become one of the effective procedures for their oxidative demethylation to quinones. Compared to AgO or CAN, the reaction times are longer, but the yields are nearly equal or slightly higher.
