Synthesis of N,N-Bis(tricarbonyliron(cyclohexa-2,4-diene)) Amine and Ammonium Complexes.

-The reaction of anhydrous liquid ammonia with the cations (I) leads to the novel products (III) and (IV). Complexes (IIa) and (IIIa) are inseparable and therefore the structure of (IIa) is tenuous. The cationic complex (IVa) gives satisfactory microanalytical and spectroscopic data, and the identity of (IIIa) and (IVa) is further supported by their ready interconversion. The obtained results are in contrast with the analogous reaction of these cations with primary and secondary amines which yields mono-addition products. -(SIU, A.
