Synthesis of New Dipyridotetraazapentalenes.
-In search for new classes of high density insensitive energetic materials new heteroaromatic dipyridotetraazapentalenes such as (IV) are easily prepared from triazolopyridines [cf. (I)]. Similar to the analogous dibenzotetraazapentalene the compound (IV) can be nitrated to the tetranitro derivative (V), which exhibits excellent thermal stability and is found to be insensitive to impact in the hammer/anvil test.
