Synthesis of Medium-Ring Nitrogen Heterocycles via Palladium-Catalyzed Heteroannulation of 1,2-Dienes.

-The Pd-catalyzed reaction of allenes with both aryl and vinyl iodides bearing amine functionalities offers a useful new route to medium-ring nitrogen heterocycles. Seven-membered rings are formed quite readily, while 8-membered rings are a bit more difficult and 9-membered rings are quite difficult to prepare. Best results are obtained using aryl iodides, rather than vinylic iodides, and tosylamides, rather than amines. Larger rings are not available by this method. -(LAROCK, R. C.;
