-Acid-mediated condensation of 2-chloro-3-formylquinolines (I) with triazoles (II) provides the s-triazolothiadiazepinoquinolines (III) (6 examples), which smoothly undergo a novel base-catalyzed intramolecular rearrangement to the s-triazolothiazinoquinolines (IV) involving scission of an N-N bond. -(
