Synthesis of Furopyridines via Cycloaddition of Unactivated Nitriles with Tungsten-Substituted 1,3-Diene.

-Tungsten compounds (I) undergo facile intermolecular [4+2] cycloaddition with unactivated aliphatic and aryl nitriles affording various substituted furopyridines. In the same way tungsten dienes (IV) bearing a tethered nitrile undergo intramolecular cycloaddition to give tricyclic furopyridines.
