Synthesis of Fluorinated Fluoresceins.

-The title compounds are prepared for the first time with a view to their application as reporter molecules in biological systems. Especially compounds (VIa) and (VIIa) are found to be superior to other non-fluorinated fluoresceins due to their lower pKa, increased resistance to photobleaching, high quantum yield, and diminished quenching on protein conjugation. -(
