Synthesis of Active Principles from the Leaves of Moringa oleifera Using S-Pent-4-enyl Thioglycosides.

-The pharmacologically active constituents of Moringa oleifera leaf extract with nitrile (Va), aldehyde (Vb), carbamate (XI), and thiocarbamate functionalities are synthesized. These compounds are synthesized via rhamnosylation of the phenolic hydroxy group of the aglycones (IV) and (VI). Side reactions on the functional group are avoided. For the construction of glycosidic linkages, the protected thiorhamnoside (III) is utilized.
