Synthesis of a α-C-Mannosyltryptophan Derivative, Naturally Occurring C-Glycosyl Amino Acid Found in Human Ribonuclease.

-The synthesis of title compound (VII) is based on a novel C-glycosidation of D-mannose (I) with tinacetylene (II). The acetylene (III) is formed, which is coupled with sulfonamide (IV) and cyclized to the key intermediate (VI).
