✦ Synopsis

Abstract

Nucleophilic substitution reactions between thienopyrimidinones (III) and substituted benzimidazolylthiols (IV) result in the formation of compounds (V) while interaction of (III) with unsubstituted benzimidazole (VI) in the presence of tetrabutylammonium bromide and potassium carbonate affords higher yields of the products (VII) than in the presence of sodium hydroxide.
