✦ Synopsis

Synthesis and Structural Analysis of BaCrS 2 .

-The new ternary chromium sulfide (IV), prepared via a two-step solid state reaction, crystallizes in the orthorhombic, centrosymmetric space group Pmmn with Z = 2. Its structure consists of CrS 2 layers separated by Ba sheets. Within the layers, the Cr atoms are coordinated to five S atoms. Thus, the structure can be considered as a distorted BaNiS 2 type.
