Synthesis and Some Physical Properties of Rare-Earth Oxysulfostibnites.

-Reaction of stoichiometric amounts of Ln 2 O 2 S (Ln: Eu, Dy, Ho, Yb) with Sb 2 S 3 at 1000-1050 โ€ข C in a sealed tube results in the formation of the new oxysulfostibnites LnSbOS 2 (I) and (LnO) 4 Sb 2 S 5 (II). Single crystal X-ray studies indicate, that the obtained compounds (I) are isostructural among one another. They belong to the CeBiOS 2 structure type and crystallize in the tetragonal system (space group P4/mmm, Z = 2). Compounds (II) are likewise isostructural and crystallize in the tetragonal system I4/mmm, Z = 1. Both types of oxysulfostibnites prove to be p-type semiconductors. -(ALIEV, O.
