Synthesis and Reactions of a Novel Furo [3,4-d]oxazole.

-The novel title compound (V), obtained by Rh-catalyzed decomposition of the diazo precursor, undergoes [4 + 2] cycloadditions with usual dienophiles. Density functional theoretical studies are in qualitative agreement with experimental data. Interestingly, decomposition of the allyl or homoallyl diazoesters obtained from (X) fail to give furooxazoles.
