Synthesis and Organization of Zeolite-Like Materials with Three-Dimensional Helical Pores.
-A family of zeolite-type materials, called UCSB-7, that possesses two independent sets of three-dimensional crosslinked helical pores separated by a gyroid periodic minimal surface, is reported. The UCSB-7 framework is synthesized with various compositions (Zn and Be arsenates, Ga germanate) using either inorganic cations or amines as structure-directing agent. It consists of helical atomic chains coupled together to form a helical ribbon made up of edge-sharing 4-rings. Single crystal XRD shows a non-centric space group I2 1 3 (Z = 8) for (KGaGeO 4 ) 6 โข7H 2 O and body-centered cubic cells for the further compounds. -(GIER, T. E.; BU, X.;
