✦ Synopsis
Synthesis and Enhanced Photocatalytic Activity of a Hierarchical Porous Flowerlike p-n Junction NiO/TiO2
Photocatalyst. -Flowerlike NiO/TiO2 composite particles are prepared from β-Ni(OH)2 (obtained from Ni(NO3)2, en, and NaOH in H2O, autoclave, 100 °C, 2.5 h) dispersed in a Ti(OBu)4/EtOH solution followed by evaporation and calcination at 400 °C for 5 h. The NiO/TiO2 particles show much higher catalytic activity for photocatalytic degradation of aqueous p-chlorophenol solutions than conventional TiO2 powders and NiO superstructures prepared under the same experimental conditions. The material can be easier separated and re-used compared to conventional photocatalysts suggesting that it is an attractive photocatalyst for large-scale environmental purification. -(YU*,
