Synthesis and Crystal Structure of the Borate-Phosphate: α-Zn3( BO3)(PO4).
-Single crystals of the title compound are prepared by reacting B2O3, P2O5, and Zn(OH)2•ZnCO3 at 1050 • C (Pt-crucible, air, 6 h) . The compound crystallizes in the monoclinic space group Cm with Z = 4. Zn is present in trigonal-bipyramidal, tetragonal-pyramidal, and distorted tetrahedral oxygen coordination. The boron atoms are present in isolated planar BO3 units and the P atoms form PO4 tetrahedra which are linked by the ZnO5 bipyramids. -(BLUHM, K.;
