โฆ Synopsis
Synthesis and Crystal Structure of a Barium Zinc Vanadyl Phosphate, BaZn(VO)(PO4)2, Containing ((VO)PO4) Layers.
-Single crystals of the title compound are prepared by solid state reaction of a prereacted mixture of BaCO3 and P2O5 (800 โข C, 24 h, air) with ZnO, V2O3, and V2O5 (780 โข C, 72 h, evacuated quartz tube). BaZn(VO)(PO4)2 crystallizes in the orthorhombic space group Pbca with Z = 8 (single crystal XRD). The structure is characterized by layers of PO4 tetrahedra and square VO1+5 pyramids connected by layers of PO4 and ZnO4 tetraheda. The resulting tunnel structure is filled by the Ba2+ ions.
